How are the eligibility points calculated?

The 65 points required are determined using the following factors:

English proficiency:  You can obtain up to 20 points on the IELTS exam with a score of 8 bands. Work experience: You will gain 15 points if you have held skilled work outside of Australia for more than 8 years in the previous 10 years; less years of experience equals fewer points.

Spouse application: If your spouse has filed for a PR visa, you will receive an additional point toward your Skill Select Expression of Interest. To obtain these extra 10 points, your spouse must meet the following requirements:

 

  • Should be less than 45 years of age
  • Should have the basic competent level scores in English
  • Job occupation code should appear in the same occupation list as the primary applicant list

Although a score of 65 is required for eligibility, gaining an invitation to apply for Australian permanent residency in 2022 is significantly easier with an 80.

Application Process

Step 1: Accreditation 

Accrediting agencies decide if something meets Australian standards based on your vocation, educational background, and work experience.

After acceptance, you will be given a letter of accreditation. There are several accrediting bodies for various professions.

Step 2: English Language Test

To pass the IELTS exam, you must score at least 6 out of 9. This has an impact on all aspects of communication, including speaking, reading, writing, and listening.

Step 3: EOI and ITA

Skill Select is the only way to apply for a visa for an Expression of Interest (EOI).

To apply for a skilled visa, you must first obtain clearance from the Australian government. To do so, submit an Expression of Interest under Skill Select.

Step 4: State Nomination Application

If your line of employment is in high demand in that state, you might apply for state government nomination. You may get notification of your nomination one to four weeks after submitting your application.

Step 5: Online Visa Application

All academic, job, and other official documents must be certified and provided with your application.

Step 6: Medical Exams and Police Certificates

Allow only a local doctor on the Australian Embassy’s list of registered doctors to conduct a medical examination.

You will also be required to present a police certificate demonstrating that you have resided in the nation for a total of 12 months in the previous 10 years.
